One last stay with "the padres" as a single

Chloë declared this to be the best spell of weather in Fuerteventura that she has experienced in 25 years or so of visits! Greyrocks is inclined to agree that after a terrible (relatively speaking) winter there has been some great daytime sun. She was with us for a week which covered the Easter holiday.

"Then bring this bit over.."
She arrived with an agenda that included placing orders for various wedding-related items, Scrabble and some sunbathing. All this was achieved - so much so that she went home with some mild sunburn!

Early on she and Ruth visited Paula the beautician and C had a good massage; then just before the end of the week they both went to see Elaine about hair for the August wedding party. She herself is very keen on coming but is having trouble making arrangement for their dogs, so there is considerable doubt about her being able to fix it on the day. So Ruth took a series of photos of the stages in her proposed coiffure for others to replicate. Ruth also got some advice on her headgear. See the results on the August 2018 special day post!

Empanadas Argentinas
Chloë also wanted to do some cooking for us enjoying the fresh local produce, and Ruth wanted to produce an Easter Sunday roast rack of lamb. The latter had to be a compromise of rather scraggy cutlets that was nothing to celebrate! Otherwise we did the rounds of Greyrocks' current favourite bars and restaurants, and tried a new one.
We took her to sample Argentinian dishes at La Bolada. It is a bit of a trek from home for us, but Greyrocks has taken to visiting after a day at the spa - either for a snack of empanandas or the "grand boeuf" of grilled imported steak. The Malbec from Buenos Aires goes down very well too! With Chloë with walked there calling in at Santa Ana for an aperitif, and discovering I 3 Calici for a digestif!

She was very impressed with all of these, and also our two main spots for a light lunch. These are Tu Casa III, where the tapas and amazing menu del dia are excellent, but we always seem to go for a plate of roast pork served with scrumptious seeded bread, and Anno 2011, which is Dutch run and has an interesting menu of light dishes including one of C's favourites from her time in Amsterdam: kaassoufflé On a beautifully sunny but windy afternoon the three of us spent several hours there beside Hoplaco beach enjoying these and other tapas, plus some Prosecco and Happy Hour semi-frozen strawberry daiquiris.
The famous beach from La Tasca

On "Spa Day" (at Bahia Real) we took lunch over at Coco Beach. This can't be a regular occurrence for Greyrocks as it is notoriously expensive, but makes a delightful treat! And finally we decided to try the "Big Beach" on Easter Sunday. Ruth took the bus and the others cycled. It was a beautiful day, but no-one was tempted into the sea, which was both rough and very cold! So time was spent at La Tasca - the chiringuito we have used for many years on our increasingly rare days on the beach there.

Then we returned to cook the  (less than perfect) Easter feast!
So mission accomplished:- Chloë stuffed her hand luggage with her usual Spanish goodies and flew back. Our next encounter would be in Bristol in preparation for the legal wedding!
